Tamela Hedström is a multifaceted musician and songwriter, whose creations in the genre of tropical soul have earned her recognition in the Latin music industry. Her talent has garnered her a double Latin Grammy Nomination as a composer, and she was awarded the ACAM Musical Prize in Costa Rica for her album TAMELA.
Tamela's dedication to her craft and talent has earned her recognition from international Latin artists, including Chayanne, Calle 13, Sin Bandera, Rosana, Bosé, and Fonseca. She has even shared the stage with legendary artists like Gilberto Santa Rosa. Tamela has performed in festivals across the globe, from China and the United Arab Emirates to Vietnam and the USA, and her concerts have taken her on tour throughout Costa Rica and Central America.
Tamela Hedström is a multi-talented artist and accomplished TV personality. She has hosted various popular shows in Costa Rica, including Estéreo, Quien sabe sabe, and Así vivimos los Ticos, and also participated in Tu cara me Suena and Swedish Idol. Her acting skills were showcased in the Costa Rican movie Maikol Yordan 2.
In addition to her entertainment career, Tamela has been actively involved with several organizations and conferences. She is a proud Ambassador for the Women's World Cup sub 17 Costa Rica for FIFA and a Goodwill Ambassador for FAO, United Nations Costa Rica.
Tamela's inspiring recovery journey from a severe car accident has also been the subject of a TEDx talk, where she candidly shared the consequences of her injury and the challenges women face in the music industry.
While living in Mexico, Tamela Hedström was accepted into the TCSACM Studies program (Studies in Composition and Songwriting with the Mexican Composer Association), where she honed her skills as a composer and songwriter. She even collaborated with Noel Schajris to create the "Hoy solo estás tú" hit song.
Currently, she is writing her autobiography, Achilles, When Life Hits You Like a Bus!, which promises to be a riveting read.
